Salam Ramadhan to all my dear friends and readers .Hope we have a blessed Ramadhan.

After a few month MIA, this is just a little update about my custom made quilts and other stuffs.

Pastel colours quilt for MYRA. I'm using fabric panel for the flower block and simple square patchwork for the background and border.

Simple quilt for WAFI using Panel Fabric -Bear Hugs by Marcus Fabrics . I love the colour! so sweet, calm and soothing.

Baby bedding set ready to go....

2 pillows with 2 cases,2 bolsters with 2 cases and baby bed sheet.

A custom personalised quilted pillow for ALYa. I have always love handquilting but for this pillow I choose machine quilted with free motion design :)) and love the amazing textural effects.

Last but not least, custom made tea cozy .

Finally I've time to update my blog , May was a hectic month for me .Helping the kids for their mid year exam and also helping my mom for my sister 's n brother's wedding preparataion.

In between all those preparation things, I manage to finish two custom made quilsts for baby boy n baby girl. Just a simple quilt design and this time I'm using more fun n sweet colour theme fabric. As usual simple hand quilts with straight stitch.

2 Sofa Cover Quilt and Quick Quilt.

Here is a sofa cover quilt for Puan Ruslina from Kuantan. This sofa cover is for her Maroon L-Shape Sofa ( hopefully the quilt match with her sofa :D ). The quilt size 25"x 52". I"m using the pattern by Heather Muldher Peterson from ' On The Run' book. It actually a pattern for table runner but I modified the size , top and bottom and also add 2 " border. The pattern is so fabulous!!. Thanks a lot Puan Ruslina for really love it.

While I'm in a hurry to finish other ongoing project, I get a call from my loyal customer Puan Haslina to make a baby boy quilt for friend 's new born baby. She asked me for super quick quilt which I can finish it in 2 days. Using I metre of Alphabet Fabric from Marcus Brother , Solid Baby Blue ,Green Fabric and small simple cut out applique , here it is..hope Baby Iyaad will love a cherish it :D

Fabric Remnants and Scraps Projects

This is a quilt I made a couple months ago. A friend gave me a bag full of remnants and scraps fabric. She commissioned me to make bags and quilt with the various type of fabric which some of the fabric pieces are big enough and some are just small squares.
I sorting them out into colours and ranges, and finally decided what I would like to make out of it. 15 bags and 1 single quilt.
The hardest part for me is when matching colours! with too many fabrics to mix and match .Luckily my friends were happy with them!

Turquoise n Orange Quilt

Custom made for my lovely customer as a gift to new born baby boy. Just a simple design using combinations of two colours plain turquoise and polkadot orange.

I need to hurry up and finish it up because it's a school holiday and I'm going to spend some quality time with my kids.

After the hurry , I finally finished it in time :)).

Free - Motion Quilting

My first free motion quilting!!!
After seeing zila post with free motion quilting, I decided to try it on my own. Already bought my darning foot long time ago:)) but never had chance to use it until last night.

It took me about 3 hours to complete this first free motion quilting for 14"x14" mini quilt.I'm truly excited!!! with the outcome and already thinking about quilting up a baby quilt for a gift :)

Amal BZ Bees quilt

This time Bees!!! all around the quilt :))This quilt set was made for Amal before she delivered and not sure whether it's boy or girl. Just after I finished the quilt, she gave birth to a cute baby girl Nuha :)) . Amal sent me a message ,she n Baby Nuha loved it very much :)) The quilt size 45"x 55" , hand applique and hand quilting. The quilt set includes two bolster (kekabu) with bolster case and one pillow( kekabu) with pillow case.

Amal ordered this bag as a gift to his Mother, MIL and Grandmother. She request for green, purple , pink colour and suitable for thier age :) Alhamdullillah they loved it

King Size Anniversary Quilt!

Urghh!! I'm so relieved finally finished handquilted 100"x 90" quilt sets . Custom made for Min from Johor for her husband on their first wedding anniversary ( belated gift).This time is Quilt+2 Quilted Pillow Case + 1 quilted Bolster case. It tooked me about 2 months to complete it . She loved to have simple designed, bright and sweet colour. Hope this colour combination fit the requirement :))

Alhamdulillah..after 8 years waiting , my sister finally blessed with beautiful and healthy baby girl.We 're all happy for my sister and her husband. Congrat dear sister :)). I'm so excited to see the baby and had a visit to their house to see the baby. She's soo cute and i just can't get enough of her, babies really are wonderful, they brought smiles to our faces. The whole family adores her ' muah'.

Before i got too excited, here's something I made for the adorable baby.Ermmm simple..yet sweet. First time I'm using pre printed baby panel fabric, simple and quick way to make baby quilt. Add 4" border and finished it with simple handquilting , following the motif outline. It took me about three days to compllete this quilt with 2 pillow case and finally done on the same day the baby was born. :))

Pretty in Pastels

This time around, its no bright colors. The baby's mother ask for a sweet pink and purple pastels theme for the quilt.

I use a simple zig zag pattern and flowers blooms applique, and the baby's name on the middle.

Really pleased with the outcome.

The Pink Quilt Story

I always love pink....and this pink quilt is for my auntie. She hand pieced the quilt top several years ago and decided to have me finish it. She used a variety of blend cotton pink fabric for a single bed size quilt.

I added the white border by using a 100% American Cotton and hand quilted as usual. She requested for a pink checked fabric for backing.

Before handed over any quilt to it's owner, I am always clean and wash it so they will appear fresh and clean. Unfortunately this time, the quilt suffers colour bleeding from the pink fabric. I'm sooo frustrated after all the hard work :((

"An unusual fabric may be difficult to deal with, especially when it's the first time you handle it and and old cottons tend to bleed especially colour ones." So that's maybe one of the reason for the bleeding.

Already passed the the finished quilt to my auntie , deep down my heart I hope she's ' not blame me for the bleeding.

My Mini Quilt

This is a second time I entered Mini Quilt swap after The Spring Mini Swap by Quilting Gallery.. My partner this time prefers bright color quilt.

I finally decided to make simple zigzag pattern from Purlbee zig zag quilt tutorial. This quilt was machine pieced and hand quilted.

I just love the way this quilt turned out.

This is it, I've finally finished the quilt after about 4 month hand quilting. 100% handmade start from piecing up to binding. The quilt size is 92"x 85 ". The owner of this quilt is sure to be very happy knowing that it's finally done.

I just made 2 sets of zippered pouches for my daughter's special teachers.They were very quick and easy!

My friend Donna was so excited because she's finally have a baby girl after 3 boys. She asked for simple, pink & green, girly, baby quilt with matching pillow and 2 bolster cases.

I decided to make this as a simple patchwork quilt with bear applique at the centre. I picked the dot pattern fabric to match with the other plain fabric. I like the clean and simple feel of this quilt, just right for a new baby girl.

As usual, the hand applique and hand quilting make it looks great :)

It took me one week to complete this 45"X 50" quilt. It was posted on the day the baby was born and arrived the next day when she was brought back home.

The block has been passed to me to finish it, and you all can see the finished quilt shown above. Hope the contributors of this quilt are satisfied looking at it.

I always thought that pink is perfect colour for a girl and with some green i think it will look even better.

Have you seen this bag before on my blog? Yup, this is the same design and material except it's bigger than the previous one . This is for Wahida, one of my reader whom I'm made grab bag few months back. When she saw the ' Lunch Tote Bag ' that I made for Batrisyia, she asked me to make one for her. This bag will be used to pack baby's essentials for nursery .

Wahida received the bag yestrday. I'm glad she loved it! :)))

BB Boy Quilt

One of my blog readers asked me to make a quilt for her. It will be a gift to her dear friend's first baby. It measured 40”x40 and made from 100% American Cotton. I personalized the quilt by putting the name of the little boy, in applique letters. In the center of the blocks, there is a boy and his toys and all the seams where quilted in the ditch. This one is completely hand appliquéd, machine pieced and handquilted. I really love went looking at the outcome! It got great colors and makes me very happy by just looking at it!

P/S-Maybe later she will post me a picture of the baby with this quilt.

Jumbo Tote Bag

Making a tote bag is fun and easy! I make this simple tote bag for my personal used, no pockets or anything, just a bag with two straps. It’s large enough to carry on my shoulder or hold the handles in my palm . The totes are sewn from home decor fabric ( Ikea) which makes them strong enough to carry things in for the kids and myself.

This custom made photo quilt is for my sister as a wedding gift for her friend . She wanted to give something unique and special as a wedding gift. The photo, the name and date on the quilt is from the couples invitation card , and printed onto fabric sheet. It has been hand appliqued and hand quilted . The quilting design was designed specifically to match their wedding colors( pink and purple is the bride favourite colour). After finished binding the quilt I sent it for photo framing and it is strung ready for hanging. It was a really great project for me.

Lunch Tote Bag

Another break from hexagon quilting. Second order from my friend is a lunch tote bag for her daughter. Batrisya would like to have her name appliqued on the bag and of course, it should be with the sweet and pink color theme. It was hand quilted with free motion quilting pattern . The size is 10' height and 12' width. I hope it's big enough to fit all the foods she'll bring for lunch :). I will pass the bag to her on Sunday at our friend's wedding at Batu Gajah, Perak.

P/S: The wedding will also be the unofficial De Montfort University 95/97 reunion.

Double Zipper Wristlet Pouch

I still busy with hand quilting the hexagon but it's almost done now. I can't focused on just one project so I took a break about 2 days to start this pouch project. This is a request from my friend. She want this pouch bigger than usual handphone pouch and more importantly, it should able to accommodate 2 handphones. The size is 8"x 5" . This is useful to store cell phone, ID, keys, cash and other essentials. The pouch has two zippered compartment for security and padded to protect the stuffs inside. An attached strap making it easy to grab and go!

Hexagon Quilt

After 2 weeks of bad flu, cough and fever now, I'm back to my quilting project.

This hexagon quilt top was hand pieced by my auntie from Ipoh. She asked my help to finish the quilt. She took about a year to put the top together and using scrap fabrics. The actual size for the top is 60"x70". I added the 7" border and now in the process of hand quilting.

I hope I am well enough and able to finish this quilt soon because there is one more from her that's waiting to be completed.

I haven't done a BOM before. I have decided to join in and do "Come Over To My House"
2009 Block of the Month Check it out !!!. I'm going to do it as a scrappy quilt. Trying to use mostly pre-cut scraps from my scrap savers bins.

OK, I finished the first and second block Whew! This is going to challenge me to do more perfect seaming and piecing with my machine. Guess that's one of the reasons I wanted to do it. I'm pleased with my fabrics and colors. They aren't all there yet, so just wait and see! I can hardly wait now to get them all together and watch the beauty of them all in one piece. My friend had seen a similar diaper bag somewhere, unfortunately they were a bit pricey for her taste. Knowing I can sew, she asked me to customized a diapers bag for her. I did run into a few problems with this pattern. However after the numerous difficulties , I finally completed this bag. Fuhhhhh!

I made this bag using cotton fabric with coordinating grey, blue and white .There a two small pocket in front of the bag, two small side pocket and an extra interior pocket. The bag close with magnetic closure. The strap 35” long and 2” width.

My husband bought me some Japanese magazines when he went to Tokyo last year. My mum was looking at them and was really interested by some of the bags design. Even though she do not mentioned it, I know if I make one for her, she will be so happy.

It took me 3 days to finish the bag, just before the Chinese New Year . When I gave her the bag she was so happy and the very next morning, she wear it to her group meeting. Her friends said the bag was lovely and they wanted one for themselves. So now I have to make six of this bag with different colour.

'Hug Me' Pillows

We love to travel around the country. Most of the journeys will take few hours at least and usually, my kids will fall asleep in the car. I decided to make these pillows for my kids, so they will have something to hug to make them comfortable. Now every time they get into the car, this is the first thing they will grab, eventhough it's just a a short trip.

" Welcome Baby " Quilt

We learned about this good new few months back. " I'm pregnant!!" said one of our sewing group member.

For my sewing classes group, our “ Welcome Baby!" project has become a tradition. This is the second time for us for to do such project. The first one was done about a year ago, unfortunately I do not have the photo of it.

This project require us to make one block measure 12x12’ with our own design and pattern. Once the blocks are done, we will gather to make a quilt out of it. This time I was asked to prepare 2 blocks and decide on applique baby duck and patch tumbling blocks.

Yesterday was my turn to host the class and instead of doing new project, we worked on the quilt. Every set is different and each one of them is awesome! The combinations were endless and tons of fun to sort through.

After a few hours ,we managed to piece the blocks together , but it still need the basting, quilting and binding. I was given the honored to finish the quilt.

I’ll do more photo documentation as I finish ..

Bright Baby Quilt

My brother and sister-in-law are having their first baby in January. They didn't know if the baby would be a girl or boy, so I made Four Patch Quilt with bright colours . The four patches are made with green, blue , orange and multi-colored stripes fabric . ... I wanted it to be bright, colourful and happy!

P/S: Bright colours attract the baby's attention , teaches them to focus and calm babies.

Pink Bag

After viewing this blog, my friend requested a bag to carry her baby girl's stuffs. She wants a pink bag with baby motif as the main pattern. I use 100% cotton pink heart and pink blenders pattern fabric. There are 3 motif applique in front of the bag. This is a tote bag style, not oversize, just big enough to carry around.

We have a scheduled reunion with our friends in 3 days time when I started this project. I hope to gave the bag to her during the meeting, but unfortunately it was left at home. I was so eager to meet all my friends after 4 long years that I totally forgot about it.

So dear Lela, I will post the bag tomorrow, I promise. Hope you'll like it as much as I do.

Grab Bag

Last week, my husband and his friends are meeting up for their regular teh tarik session near my house. As their wives are also my sewing classmates, we decided to do this grab bag project.

Making this bag is a lot of fun, we really like this simple bag style and the pattern. We added pocket on the inside to hold little things such as business cards, cell phone, tissues and keys. This reversible handbag have two equal gorgeous side. Bags shown on the magazine photo above got one strap which is shorter than the other one but we altered the strap so that it can be in the same length. With this bag you will feel like having two bags instead of one. It was very quick and simple project, and only took about 2 hour to finish.

This bag pattern was featured in Fast and Fabulous Quilting Ideas by Better Homes and Gardens Creative Collections June 2008. This pattern also can be view from Martha Stewart’s website under Reversible Purse.

Iza's Daughter

I custom made this quilt for my friend's daughter Aishah Najihah.This baby quilt is designed with bright colors of pinks, green, yellow and blue with cute heart. The quilt personalized with her baby name . The hearts and alphabets were appliqued to each block , then pieced together and hand quilted. It was time consuming but lots of fun.

I prefer 100% cotton made fabrics, because cotton is easy to handle, mark, press and sew by hand.There is nothing better than a soft, fluffy quilt.Most people like cotton quilts as it extremely easy to maintain, they last for a long time, and are comfortable to use, whenever you want to use it.

In Malaysia 100% cotton fabric is quite expensive. I always use American Cotton that price range from RM28 - RM50 permeter (sometimes even more). Sometimes I have to wait for the store to having a sale to buy the Fabric.

Yesterday I went to a store specialized in quilt and they are having sales!!. The price is from 10% -30% less from the usual price. I bought about 12 meter of lovely fabric and it gonna be use for my current project. Click to the picture to see the larger images.

Simple Bag

This bags are specially made for my mother's Marhaban Group. Marhaban (Islamic carolling) groups make house-to-house visits reciting prayers and praises for Prophet Muhammad, also doa or prayers of blessing for the well-being of occupants of the house.

The size of the bags 16'x 17'. I made 10 of this bag with the same pattern. The colours are dark green, black and roses on cream. This is simple tote bag and hand quilted with square quilt pattern.

I made this bedding set as a gift for my brother's wedding. It was done in greens and pinks to match with the wedding's theme. I'm very grateful it turns out lovely, because I only have about two months to finish them. I thought I could not make it in time.
In Malay tradition, the wedding couple is called 'King of the day', hence the title of this entry.
The groom and bride were so happy with their gift and now I'm looking forward to make a quilt for their en route baby due on January 2009.

Irish Chain

I saw this Irish Chain pattern at my teacher house while she was making one for her son. It look gorgeous and I asked her for the template. Immediately after reaching home, I grabbed all my fabric for this Irish Chain project. It took me only 4 days to finish the top. I'm so eager to see the outcome, but after 8 month this top still waiting for basting, backing, quilting and binding. I really need to find time to finish this project. :b

Smocking Hot !!!!

I always wanted to learn smocking because they look so beautiful, especially on children. Since this is my first project I choose a relatively easy pattern found on Australian Smocking & Embroidery Magazine. At first I had some problems with some of the constructions. I'm going through a lot of learning process, on how to sew puffed/gathered set in sleeves, a collar, button, and buttonholes. I feel proud looking at my daughters dresses in something that I made for them myself. My daughters are so excited about their new dress. This motivated me to make another for them.

Now both my daughters are happy with their own quilt, naturally my son wanted to have one himself. I was scrathcing my head on which theme would suit him. Finally, I decided on Spongebob Squarepant and his friends. The blue stripe and yellow bubble fabric was purchased from Thousand of Bolts. The character was sourced from free colouring pages on internet.It took , quite sometime for me to applique the characters to make it look real. With his cute funny faces, I pretty sure he'll like it.
